Consolidating
Consolidating the website through inter-connectivity.
Installing a new user system. It will add achievements, as well as user profiles, activity streams, commenting on profiles, and all that social networking jazz.
The biggest headache is the number of templates that this plugin uses. As usual, I’m doing everything from scratch.
My creativity has to be channeled through the CSS styling, making it a painstaking process as I attempt to incorporate these new templates into my website’s established style. Rather than introducing new elements, I’d like to stick with what the user’s seen and grown comfortable with, while still organizing the information in a way that provides ease of use.
It seems to be going well. Much easier than writing a plugin from scratch. Ought to get this up and running within the week, and up for beta testing soon after to work out the kinks I missed.
Updated the Marijuana Movie List on WPD.
I went in looking to update the look, making it easier on the eyes. I noticed how scrimp the list was and had to add to it.
Tedious Tasks
Going through the WPD Stoner Shop and reorganizing it to make it more user friendly. It was separated by styles, which then led to a giant page of products. I’ve been adding sub-sections to these styles, like Shirts - Winter Wear - Stickers - etc.
I have to pull a screenshot of each type of product for each sub section, and then move all the products into their sections. It sounds easier than it really is, thanks to the wonderful Cafepress interface. I’ve been clicking tiny checkboxes for the past hour.
First housekeeping, now this.

Writing a comprehensive guide on vaporizers
How they work, the difference between portable and home types, the difference between bag and hose style vapes, and of course a list of brands for each section.
And of course, the only images I have available to illustrate concepts are the GIFs I’ve made(so, about 5).
Now I remember why I was putting it off so long. It’s so daunting.

Reorganized the animated GIFs section
I’ve reorganized the entire GIF archive, adding more tags to make finding things easier.
Looking for Pineapple Express? Want to see official WeedPornDaily GIFs? Check out our GIF tag!
Stay regular super stoners~
Lordy, that was a handful.
I was able to organize the video section as well. Now super stoners like R3DBAND, oilshashgrassandglass, Cannabis Cure TV, and more have their own appropriate tags(for both videos and GIFs). Still have to organize a bit more, I know I missed a lot of Urban Grower’s stuff.
Organized the Stoner Chick section as well. Added tags for coralreefer, hotboxtheworld, veeeveeeganja, and stonergirl.
But I’m done with housekeeping tonight.
Now to reward myself with a snack.
WPD Housekeeping
One of the more tedious tasks on my to-do list, housekeeping.
With the plethora of pot porn I’ve got archived on the WPD archive, the biggest problem is sorting through it. Even I have problems finding content occasionally. I tend to resort to the Google search on top of the page, rather than using the tag system I’ve established.
Tonight I’ve set out to add more specific tags to posts to create a more concise content structure.
Currently I’m sorting through the 800+ GIFs in the archive. WPD, food porn, Weed Report, etc, all are getting their own specific GIF tag to separate them from the other forms of media. The only problem is that it doesn’t roll back into the Tumblr archive. Then again, my mission has always been for the WPD main website to be the primary, most organized archive.
Also have to go through my older posts and convert the titles into the newer format. I used to prefix posts with their particular section(Tuneout Tuesday, Stoner GIFs, etc). It was excessive, and got ugly after a while. That’s going to take another chunk of my time.
It’s nice though, mulling through old content and doing menial labor. It allows my brain to get into the WPD zone, channeling creativity into conceptualizing.
Slipping back into productivity
Had some less than desirable meatloaf and it left my stomach feeling aloof, so I smoked a small bowl.
Quite a nice high, sativa dominant. I was able to look at things with a unique perspective, which I always appreciate about pot.
Biggest change today was the FAQ/Ask. In one of those, “Why didn’t I think of that before!” moments, I realized the ask box was an IFrame that I could include anywhere — even on the main website. This radical concept led an even more genius concoction, the combination of the FAQ and ask box. Now users have no excuse but to see the FAQ during the question process - increasing usability immensely.
This brilliant change led me to update the FAQ, which hadn’t received housekeeping in months. Added about 200 questions. Organized them a bit more, adding a few new sections and introducing some sub-sections. Stripped down the page for any excessive text/HTML to ensure the best load time.
Fixed a few bugs on the site thanks to some insight from @MrsWPD. Namely, the random strain on every page should open a new page now, as to not disrupt the browsing experience. Changed some CSS around on the Tumblr, finally migrating the some icons to the “Too High” buttons in the sidebar.
And as usual, updated the website. Luckily, I didn’t encounter too much holdup from the host’s error messages.
Overall a decent day in the WPD offices.
